On the foot of Filippo Lippi
Prato is the only city in the world that can claim to have the richest, most important body of works by Filippo Lippi, one of the great masters of the Renaissance. The extraordinary series of paintings on panels – most of which are on exhibit in the collection The Treasures of the City – and the marvelous frescoes in the Cathedral provide a highly satisfying coverage of the art of this interesting, controversial artist. The testimony of his son, Filippino, a celebrated painter in his own right, born in Prato, is also very precious.
